FairSharing Articles

FairShare enables content creators to earn more from every article by sharing their work with others. Just like large news organizations, FairShare allows you to syndicate your content to anybody who is interested in re-publishing it on their site. Ad revenue earned on FairShared articles is returned to the original creator.

FairSharing articles is super simple. If you are a content creator, follow these simple steps. If you're interested in FairSharing other people's work, go here.

  • Download the FairShare Plugin for WordPress and install it in your WordPress instance. (For now, FairSharing is only available to content creators who use WordPress software. We're working on support for more platforms - stay tuned for more news on that soon.) The plugin inserts the FairShare widget on all new blog posts by default. You may optionally insert the FairShare widget on older posts and/or opt out of inserting it on individual, new posts.
  • When people see the FairShare widget, they understand they can copy your article (along with the FairShare widget, attribution link, and the FairShare ad code) and publish them on their site or blog. Re-publishers don't need to register with FairShare. Everything they need is provided by the widget. In fact, republished articles also include the FairShare widget, so their readers can continue to republish the article and the original creator gets paid for those as well - cool huh!
FairShare tracks all reused articles across the entire web. If a site doesn't follow the rules and isn't displaying FairShare ads, it is escalated using a graduated response process that either inserts the ad code or removes the content from the site. Content creators that FairShare their articles can rest assured that nobody is stealing their hard work and not repaying them for it.

FairShare collects ad revenue generated for each content creator and sends the content creator a check (minus a small commission for making it all possible). The owner of the site that re-published the article can include other ads on the page and keep the revenue from those - everybody wins!
